In the green and gold – 6 Australian short films representing the best the land of convicts has to offer in short film. Drama, comedy, romance, epic scenery and a lot of guts, Australian short film brings heart and soul to the screen and dares you to believe! Believe in Australia!

In the black and white – 6 short films from New Zealand showing us you can be who you are without apologising for it bro. Personal stories about hope and strength and the important things in life. New Zealand brings it hard this year with a selection of competitive films to throw the Aussies out of the ring!

What are we going on about? Ok, leaving aside the friendly competition for a moment, let’s get to specifics – Down Under Berlin are hosting the first ever Australia Versus New Zealand short film battle…and it’s going to be EPIC. We invite you to indulge in some short film fun and come to the competition. Grab a beer or two, a pop corn bag the size of your head and settle in to the cozy Moviemento Kino to watch A LOT of short films, AND THEN – vote! That’s right, the audience votes of the best two films of the evening and from there, one ultimate winner is chosen. The winning film receives a one-year membership to the international film community platform FilmUp. The DUB team will announce the winner at the end of the second session after the votes have been tallied!

Want some highlights? Well, there aren’t any! Why? Because they are all amazing and we just can’t choose our favourite, which is why we need YOUR help.

Check out our DUB calendar page for the event and link to buy your ticket. Stay for a drink with the DUB team and attending short filmmakers afterward, it’ll be great fun.

Each session is €8. Bring friends and split your costs over a 5 ticket pass for €35, and you’ll save €5!

So, I guess we’ll see you at the movies!
